Ehuru, also called African nutmeg, it is an African spice added to soups or stews. Its botanical name is Monodora Myristica, is a tropical plant of West African origin. it is added to soups or stews, particularly pepper soup. It can also be used to prepare abacha, nkwobi, groundnut soup,black soup,Ofe Akwu, ugba/ukpaka, ose-oji,egusi,ogbono, Banga soup, garden egg sauce, goat meat stew, Ukwa, and isi ewu. The best of Ehuru is gotten when roasted. It adds extra flavor to meals.

Ehuru comes in a hard shell that contains the seed, which is grounded, and the powder is added to traditional soups and dishes.

When cooking bear in mind that Ehuru has a strong flavor so a little goes a long way, you want to add just enough to compliment the other flavors, not overpower them.
