Cocoyam is a tropical starchy tuberous root crop. There is the white and red coloured Cocoyam. It serves as a soup thickener for Bitterleaf soup, Oha (Ora) soup, Ekpang Nkwukwo and can be boiled like yam and eaten with spiced Palm oil or sauce. The leaf is also edible and has high nutritional value in Protein and Vitamin A and C.
